Here's a lovely diagram to (hopefully) help describe the structural differences of the elevations.

  1. cool! I'm pretty confident about our elevation C (especially if we can get the porch) but it's neat to see the other options. I hope some of the information I'm trying to collect will also be useful. dreamrome.blogspot.com

    1. We are building a Rome elevation E. We chose it sight unseen before there were any blogs. Rachel and Tommy had the first blog we were saw with the elevation. We were excited to see what the house looked like. Finally, they have started ours. This is week 3 and they are putting in windows and are about to complete all of the roofing. This elevation looks huge! We had no idea that the living room windows go almost completely to the floor. The roof pitch makes it look gigantic. We love this elevations!!

    2. That's great! Yes, Rachel & Tommy were the first ones to get all the way through with an E, as best as I can determine. There's a bunch of us building now, though! Are you blogging? We'd love to follow you!

    3. No not blogging. Spend too much time looking at other blogs :). I'm not even sure how to post pictures or anything. We noticed they have made a mistake and we have extra side widows in the morning room. Yikes, more window treatments!

    4. Lol...better that they add than subtract! I'm hoping they accidentally give us a couple extra windows, myself! :)

    1. Are you saying that the picture I have is from that neighborhood? When I go to that neighborhood's site, I see drawings of the L, N and M (which I hadn't found before, so thanks!) but the only actual picture is of an L. Have you been to see it?

  3. Forgot to say thanks for your blog it has been very helpful! Ours is the first E in the development. Our pm was not aware of the differences in the elevation do we were able to tell him what to look for.

  4. Nice research! If you like hip roofs, M looks interesting, especially because it appears to have an attic! Once my N is built, I'll be sure to let you know so you can add it to this list. Thanks!!!

  5. Wow, you have such comprehensive blog posts! We are building an elevation L, and they just broke ground last Wednesday!! Yayy

  6. I love that last diagram: these differences were never pointed out, we chose elevation based on the flat black & white line drawings of the "straight on" look, and basically chose based on the way the peaks of the roof were, because it was impossible to judge the effect of the front of the house. We found out a lot of these details on our own later.

    1. Yeah, I remember it being mentioned in passing but they definitely didn't explain. We originally were going to do the B elevation because it has a "covered" front door, but then we were able to get the E with the full porch. I'm glad we didn't get the B, because those loft windows would have driven me crazy!

  7. I was interested in the Elevation D and I had my wonderful Sales rep Tina in Stafford ask the Richmond sales rep to send us some pictures of the inside of the loft. You can find it on our blog we just started. "FromHeretoRome.blogspot.com". If anyone else is interested in seeing it. Also thanks Amanda - your blog has been essential to our decision making. We are buying sight-unseen from Hawaii! Your collection of other blogs and such have made navigating our choices easier and seeing what the options really look like streamlining our decision process.

    1. Glad to be of help! And glad that you posted, too, because I hadn't realized the last picture on this page had gone missing. And that's probably the most useful picture on the whole blog!

  8. We are building Elevation C with partial stone. We liked the way it looked, they didn't offer the porch and wouldn't take a special request for it but having the overhang over the door is all I really wanted. We are building in Stafford, VA so we aren't too far away. If you get a chance check out my blog and give me your thoughts.

  9. We are building an Elevation M which has a Craftsman look to it with stone at the bottom. We are also having a bench built into the loft in the bump-out area.

    1. Do you have the picture for elevation M, I am choosing between M and N.
The Sales Rep can't find the picture for M.
      Thanks

    3. This commenter didn't link to a blog, or leave contact info, so we're out of luck. The only picture I have is the artistic rendering, I don't know of any bloggers building an M.

  10. I'm loving Elevation C and Elevation N. I like how it puts the 2 foot extension on the loft. Than you for posting these.
