Friends, Romans, Countrymen

I've read 20+ blogs about Ryan Home building, and it seems there aren't too terribly many Romes being built out there.  The ones I've found are now listed on my sidebar on the right, and I just spammed requested all of them  to follow me and put their two cents in.  If you know of a Rome blog that I haven't found, could you let me know?  And if you know of another Ryan blog that's chock-full of good info (like Thomas! :) could you pass that on as well?  There's no such thing as too much information!

Edited to add:  If there's anyone else in the Richmond VA area, I'd love to know about them as well!

  1. It looks like you have found a ton of Rome builders! I've been blogging since March and I've only ever found 2 Yorkshire builders!

    1. I actually found two more right after I posted this, lol. Several of them haven't posted in a couple months so I'm not sure whether they're even reading the blogs anymore, but some of them had good info in them. I'll have to let you know if I come across any Yorkshires! :)

  2. I think the Rome is a popular model. To me, it makes sense. It's the right combination of space and economy. Energy-efficient and a good use of available interior space -- at the right price. I need more square footage, but don't want a higher energy bill.

    1. What I love about the Rome is that it doesn't LOOK huge, but it's got tons of room. And our SR was stressing the energy-efficiency of it to our agent at our meeting, because she was concerned that it was single-zone...she's still concerned, but I'm hoping his logic makes sense!

    2. I totally understand. I was concerned at first because of the single zone issue, but the house looks tight, and I'm sure the fact that it doesn't have any rooms or areas with two-story ceilings helps. Those larege open areas look nice, but all your heat goes up to the 2nd story.

    3. Yes, and that's the first thing I think of every time I see one! We actually rejected a couple of other builders because they didn't have floorplans without the two-story foyers or great rooms.

    4. I wanted a two-story great room! I settled on a two-story foyer instead because I fell in love with the Yorkshire. I'm more than willing to pay more for my energy bill to have this feature because I love it so much! It makes the house feel so much larger and more open! My house does have zoned thermostats for all three leves though so that should help.

    5. I definitely think they're pretty, and great to look at, but we have enough disagreement on the thermostat setting as it is! :D
