Disappointed

It's been a while since I've posted, and sadly enough there's not much to report.  We have waterproofing, and plumbing, and a new pile of dirt that didn't used to be there, but that's it.

The waterproofing is strange...there's the black tar that I've seen on plenty of blogs, but also this weird orange stuff.  It's kind of like insulation in texture.  And the places they put it seem kinda random also.

Several people have expressed concern that we won't have a sump pump.  I'm talking to the PM about it to get specifics, but I would imagine that the slope of our lot has something to do with it.  Here's a picture from 15 or 20 feet behind our property line.
The highest piece of concrete you see?  That's where our main floor will sit.
We'll see what they say.  In any case, we went by today and there was no lumber.  No slab.  No backfilling of the under-basement area.  So, pretty much none of the things that he expected to have.  And we're supposed to have rain and storms Monday, so I doubt much will get done then either.  All this wonderful weather we had the past several days.  What a waste.

I'd almost prefer that he not give me a timeline, if it's going to be like this...such a letdown!  :(

  1. I'm so sorry things aren't going as expected. How frustrating! I hope they make some kind of progress this week.

  2. Hang in there -- it will pick up before you know it. And we don't have a sump pump either -- and looks like we've got a similarly sloped lot.

  4. Thanks everyone. I'm hoping it was just the inspectors taking too long...the PM did mention that the plumbing needed to be inspected before they could pour the slab.
