As you might recall from this post, I was less than pleased with the size of our backyard. There was also a concern that there might be a step down from the basement to the yard, which I aired at our pre-construction meeting. Apparently once the lot was cleared and our PM got a better look at it, he decided to see if there was anything he could do about our house's positioning, because it became apparent that there would be a fair-sized "hump" in our driveway as well. He checked with the engineers about reversing the floorplan (which I erroneously assumed had been done the FIRST time around...) and lo and behold, all three problems should be fixed! We actually got quite a bit more back yard out of it. Granted, we lost quite a bit of driveway, but I think we'll manage. It's a rare day when we have more than three extra cars visiting, and there should still be room for that.
Here is a before/after of the plat. I'm bright enough to have figured out the length of wall/distance to property line measurements, but if you happen to have a CLUE what any of the non-measurements are for, by all means educate me!
|Per plan on left, reversed on right.|
So I'll be making another trip (or four) to the model that's the reversed floorplan, to take a bazillion more pictures. And yes, Nadase, I'll post them! ;)
