It's a brick...wall

Accomplished since Sunday:
brick to grade
backfilling around the back of the house (not complete, but they definitely worked on it)
center hole filled up with gravel
some pre-slab prepwork done (not a ton, though)

There were two workers there at 6pm leveling the gravel, and a pile of wooden boards and the wire mesh-like stuff for the slab prep, so we're looking good for slab being poured Thursday or Friday.  No lumber for the frame yet, but space is a bit tight in there right now so they might be waiting until after the cement trucks are done.

  1. Great progress Amanda! The brick is a pretty color! We are building the same reversed floor plan but it looks so different. I can see the side entry garage which is pretty cool and the front porch! Yay! Not sure what to make out of the back of the house. Everything looks open in the back.

    1. When I look at your pictures, it looks like you have a concrete wall for the back wall of your basement. We're getting a "rear stud wall" which means it will be framed out just like the rest of the house. That's my theory! Rear stud walls were an additional cost, but not something we had any option of refusing. At least, they didn't TELL us we had the option. But I think I'm okay with it, because that means we could put windows in down the road if we want to.

    1. Lol...that was a requirement of my husband's. I would have been fine without it, but I have to say that I'm glad we could get it.

The brick is Grand Caramel. :)

  4. Going to be such an awesome view with those trees in the back. We also have a full walk-out basement with a rear stud-wall. Makes it easier for them to do lots of windows and doors.
